In short
Two utilities offer window rebates in our service area. Snohomish County PUD pays $100 per window replacing single pane and $50 per window replacing a double-pane frame in electrically heated homes, and only when a PUD-registered contractor installs them. Puget Sound Energy pays $50 or $100 per window by U-factor for electric or natural gas heated homes, up to 15 windows per home. Amounts and rules change; we confirm them with you before you order.

Your electric bill comes from Snohomish PUD and your home is heated with electricity: baseboards, an electric furnace or a heat pump.

Your primary heat runs on PSE electricity or PSE natural gas: the Eastside, south Bothell, and PSE gas customers in Seattle and Shoreline.

What changed for 2026
The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit that covered windows, Section 25C, ended on December 31, 2025. There is no federal window credit for 2026 installations. The IRS page on the credit is the place to confirm it.
PSE's window rebate runs for installs completed by December 31, 2026, with a 60-day filing window after installation.
Snohomish PUD's window rebate is in effect as of September 2026: $100 for a single-pane replacement, $50 for a double-pane frame, U-0.30 or lower, registered contractor required.

Is there a federal tax credit for windows in 2026?
No. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit that covered windows ended on December 31, 2025. Windows installed in 2026 do not qualify. Utility rebates from Snohomish PUD and PSE are still available.
Do I need a specific contractor to get the PUD rebate?
Yes. Snohomish County PUD requires that a PUD-registered contractor do the installation. Breeze Free is registered with PUD for windows. A window installed by an unregistered company does not qualify, no matter how efficient it is.
Does replacing just the glass qualify for a rebate?
No. Both PUD and PSE rebates apply to full window or door replacement. Glass-only replacement is often the right fix for a failed seal, but it is not rebate-eligible, and we will tell you that before you decide.
How much can I get back?
PUD pays $100 per window replacing single pane and $50 per window replacing a double-pane frame. PSE pays $50 or $100 per window depending on U-factor, up to $750 or $1,500, with a 15-window lifetime limit per home. Amounts and eligibility change, so we confirm the current program with you before you order.
