When you do not need a new door
A sliding door that drags usually needs new rollers, not a new door. Fog inside a patio door's glass is a failed seal, and we can replace the glass unit alone. A front door that sticks in winter may need a threshold adjustment. We fix those when that is the right answer and quote a replacement when it is not.

The threshold, sill pan and any water damage under it. Doors fail from the bottom.
Swing direction, clearance for furniture and flooring, and where the screen goes.
Whether the door needs replacing at all, or whether new glass, rollers or weatherstripping fixes it.
A door quote covers the door, the frame if it needs one, hardware, installation and haul-away. Nothing is added later.

How much does exterior door replacement cost?
Five things move the number: the door itself (fiberglass, steel or wood), the size of the opening, sidelights or transoms, the hardware, and whether the frame and sill need replacing. A PSE rebate can take $50 or $100 off a qualifying patio door. Cory measures for free, the written quote is back to you inside 48 hours, and it does not change on install day.
How long does it take to replace a door?
Most doors are built to order and arrive in about 4 to 6 weeks. Installation of a single entry or patio door is usually done in a day, including haul-away of the old unit.
Can you replace a sliding door with French doors?
Usually, yes, when the opening is standard and there is room for the swing. Cory checks the header, the flooring and the clearance during the visit and tells you whether a hinged pair will work or whether a new slider or multi-slide is the better fit.
Do exterior doors qualify for energy rebates?
PSE offers a rebate on qualifying patio doors by U-factor for electric and natural gas heated homes, with caps and a December 31, 2026 install deadline. Snohomish PUD's window rebate does not cover doors. We confirm the current programs with you before you order.
What warranty comes with a new door?
Our 2-year workmanship warranty covers the installation. The manufacturer covers the door; most patio doors carry a lifetime warranty, and front doors carry their own terms, which we put in writing with the quote.
