When we will tell you not to replace your windows
If the fog is between the panes and the frame is sound, you need new glass, not new windows. If three windows on the weather side are shot and the rest are fine, we quote three. One homeowner got four bids and we were the only one willing to replace some of the windows without forcing new trim on the siding. That is how we work.
Signs your windows are costing you comfort and money
Drafts you can feel near the glass in winter, or rooms that will not hold heat.
Fog or moisture between the panes. That is a failed seal, and often a glass-only fix.

Insert replacement or full-frame: what each one is
Insert (pocket) replacement
The new window fits inside your existing frame. Less disruption, lower cost, and your interior trim stays. Right when the frame is square, dry and sound. We check for rot and water damage before recommending it.
Full-frame replacement
The whole unit comes out down to the rough opening, frame and sill included. Right when there is rot, when the old frame is out of square, or when you want more glass. It costs more, and sometimes it is the only honest answer.
What Cory checks
Frame condition, sill slope, flashing, siding type, and how the old unit was installed. Brick, stucco and lap siding each change how a window comes out and goes in, and he has done all of them for 30 years.

Stiffer and more stable than vinyl in heat and cold, with slimmer frames and more glass. A step up in price that pays off on large openings and on homes where the look matters.

Are you registered with Snohomish PUD?
If your home is electrically heated in Snohomish County, an unregistered installer means no rebate, no matter how good the window is.
Who measures, and are they paid on commission?
Cory measures every job here and he is the owner, so nobody is working a quota at your kitchen table.
Do your own people install, or do you subcontract?
Ours are our own, and that is who the 2-year workmanship warranty is backed by.
Does the quote list the U-factor for every window?
It should. That number decides your rebate tier and your comfort, and it is the only honest way to compare two bids.
Will you replace only what needs replacing?
Ask for the partial. If the answer is always the whole house, you have your answer.

How much does window replacement cost in Snohomish County?

How long do replacement windows take to arrive?
Custom windows take about 4 to 6 weeks from your approval to arrival. We schedule installation as soon as they land, and most homes are finished in one day.
Do I need to replace all my windows at once?
No. Many customers do the weather side or the worst rooms first. Insert windows can be matched later, and we note the exact product so the next phase matches. Partial jobs are normal for us.
Which windows qualify for the PUD or PSE rebate?
PUD requires double or triple pane glass rated U-0.30 or lower, an electrically heated home in Snohomish County, and a PUD-registered contractor. PSE pays by U-factor tier for electric or natural gas heated homes. We recommend glass packages that meet the rules and confirm the current program before you order. Glass-only replacements do not qualify.
Vinyl or fiberglass: which should I choose?
Vinyl is the best value and handles the Pacific Northwest climate well. Fiberglass is stiffer, allows slimmer frames and larger glass, and costs more. For most homes vinyl is the right answer; for big openings or a specific look, fiberglass earns its price. Cory will show you both on the visit.
What warranty comes with new windows?
Our 2-year workmanship warranty covers the installation. The manufacturer covers the window itself, with lifetime coverage on most vinyl and fiberglass lines we install. We give you the exact terms in writing with the quote.
Can you install windows in the rain?
Yes, and in this climate we would not get much done otherwise. We open one opening at a time, so the house is never standing open, and interior protection goes down before any window comes out.
Do I need a permit to replace my windows?
It depends on the city and on what changes. Replacing a window in the opening it already has is treated differently from enlarging an opening, altering framing or bringing a bedroom window up to egress. Cory tells you which one your job is before anything is ordered.
